Your child's SHSAT math score is fixable — if you know exactly what to fix.

Start with a free 10-minute Math Scan. You'll see exactly where your child stands — including how today's skills project against specialized high school cutoffs — and the first three skills to fix.

A recipe uses 3 cups of flour for every 2 cups of milk. If a baker uses 12 cups of flour, how many cups of milk are needed?

Fast path: flour tripled from 3 to 12, so milk triples from 2 to 8.

Practice scores are scaled and compared against what each specialized school's offer line usually requires:

SHSAT season runs September to test day. Most families start in the fall — 10 focused minutes a day now beats cramming in October.

Why it works

A method, not a pile of practice problems

Every question your child sees is chosen by what the evidence says they need next.

Diagnosed, not guessed

01

Eight questions across the six SHSAT math domains find the real starting point — including gaps left over from earlier grades that tutors and prep books miss.

Always the right next skill

02

Every skill sits on a map with its prerequisites, so practice time is never wasted on things your child already knows — or isn't ready for yet.

Mistakes become lessons

03

Every missed question turns into repair work: the trap they fell into, the clean setup, and the fast test-day path — then a fresh attempt.

Built for the real 90-minute test

04

Once a skill is accurate, Speed Lab trains the pace the actual SHSAT math section demands — no hints, no calculator, one-way.

The honest math

A tutor costs $80–150 an hour — and still can't see every gap

Prep books give every child the same pages. SHSAT Math Lab diagnoses the gaps a one-hour-a-week tutor would need months to find — the scan is free, and the full plan costs less than a single tutoring session each month.

What families say

On track, actually used, worth it

Early feedback from the first families riding the route through a full SHSAT season.

We tried two prep books and an app that was mostly cartoons. This is the first tool that actually changed his practice test score — up 11 math questions in ten weeks.
PPriya S.Parent, grade 8 · Jackson Heights
Twenty focused minutes a day beats the two-hour Saturday class we were driving to. Best SHSAT math tool we have used.
DDavid C.Parent, grade 6 · Bay Ridge
The weekly summary is two minutes and I finally know what to ask her about. No nagging required.
SSofia M.Parent, grade 7 · Astoria
She went from guessing on ratio problems to explaining them to me at dinner. The scan found the exact gap her tutor missed.
EElena R.Parent, grade 7 · Sunset Park
The streak and the trophy shelf are the reason I open it. Speed Lab is weirdly fun once you stop rushing.
AAmara, 12Student, grade 7 · Harlem
It never tells you “good job” when you get it wrong. It shows the trap you fell into, then gives you the same idea again a week later.

Every paid plan funds a free one

For each family that subscribes, we give a full plan — every feature, every lab, the whole route — to a family who could not otherwise afford SHSAT prep.

  • Same full plan, no lite version and no strings attached
  • Awarded with community organizations and school counselors
  • No applications or essays — access should never depend on paperwork

Every year, thousands of NYC students miss the specialized high schools simply because their families never saw a practice test. If your family can pay, your plan quietly carries another student along the same route.

Questions parents ask

Everything you'd want to know before the scan

Short, honest answers — the scan itself takes ten minutes and is free.

Is this aligned with the real SHSAT?

Yes. Every skill and practice question is built from the current SHSAT math section — the same six domains, the same format, the same 90-minute pacing. Practice materials are original; scoring is an estimate, not an official SHSAT score.

How is this different from a prep book or a tutor?

A prep book gives every child the same pages. A tutor sees your child one hour a week. SHSAT Math Lab adapts to every answer, finds the exact skill gaps, and re-tests them until they hold — for a fraction of one tutoring session a month.

How much time does it take each day?

About 10 minutes. Short, focused daily practice beats a long weekend cram — and it's the habit kids can actually keep during the school year.

Can I see what my child is doing?

Yes. The parent dashboard shows minutes practiced, accuracy, skills that became test-ready, and the one thing to focus on next — a two-minute weekly read, no hovering required.

My child is in 6th grade — is it too early?

It's the ideal time. The scan usually finds gaps from earlier grades, and fixing those now is far easier than in the fall of 8th grade. The route simply has more time to work.

What does it cost — and can I cancel?

The Math Scan and first results are free, no credit card required. The full plan is a flat monthly subscription, one student per parent account, and you can cancel any time.
